Breast Augmentation also known as augmentation mammaplasty is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgeries in the world. Patients elect to have Breast Augmentation surgery for many varied and personal reasons, these may be aesthetic or medical including breasts that are too small, breast symmetry (unevenly sized). The surgery can restore volume and fullness after pregnancy, breast feeding or weight loss or patients who have undergone breast reconstruction and want to gain a more natural look again.

THE PROCEDURE

Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia. A very small incision is placed in the fold beneath your breast; then a pocket is created underneath the breast tissue and muscle where the implant is positioned. This location can accommodate every size and shape of implant and is well concealed. Absorbable sutures are placed to close the incisions; and patients are placed in a soft bra to wear after surgery.

POSTOPERATIVE

Surgery is done as an outpatient procedure, meaning you are discharged the same day of your surgery. The surgery itself takes approximately 1 ½ hours to be performed.

Most women after the surgery experience some degree of swelling, bruising and tenderness, but these symptoms subside in a short time and can be controlled with pain medications. You may wear the soft bra for 1 to 2 weeks following surgery. Many patients return to their desk jobs within 5 days of surgery.
