Liposuction

liposuction image 1The reasons for having liposuction are as varied as the people who choose to have it. Recently people have been actively pursuing optimal health through diet and exercise. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we still cannot achieve the results we yearn for. Many people today work hard at the gym to help sculpt their body. Sometimes excess fatty tissue will not allow them to reveal their increased muscular definition. That is when liposuction/Liposelection plays an important role. Dr. Hazen is able to improve your body's contour by removing unwanted fat concentrated in certain areas including the abdomen, hips, thighs, upper arms, and neck. Looking your best helps to make you feel your best.

Liposuction Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Jill Hazen will determine if you are a candidate for liposuction. Dr. Hazen has extensive experience in liposuction surgery offering the latest technology; including VASER® Liposelection, in order to enable her to produce consistently superior results. The ideal candidate has localized areas of fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. The goal is to not reduce your weight through liposuction but to improve your contour. Liposuction may be performed on one area or several areas. If the areas are small, the surgery may be able to be performed comfortably in the office without anesthesia. If several areas are being treated at the same time to achieve your best results, Dr. Hazen may suggest having sedation anesthesia for your comfort. Patients sometimes decide to combine their liposuction with other procedures, such as tummy tuck, arm lift, and/or thigh lift. If you are considering other procedures, combining them with your liposuction will not only consolidate your recovery time, but also help ensure that you achieve your ideal body profile.

The Procedure:

In liposuction the area to be treated is injected with a special fluid/anesthesia combination prior to suctioning. The fluid softens the fat making the procedure less invasive. It also helps provide local anesthesia during and after surgery, thus minimizing pain.

After the area is numb, a thin tube is inserted through 1 or more tiny incisions near the designated area. This Vaser® probe gently loosens the fat from the surrounding non-fatty tissues. Next a thin hollow cannula is attached to a suction machine. The cannula is strategically manipulated to contour and sculpt the body. Multiple areas of the body may be treated at the same time. Depending on the areas to be treated liposuction can take from 1 to 3 hours. After the procedure is finished fine sutures are placed in the incisions, and the patient is placed in a compression garment.

Post-Operative:

This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. You may feel a little sore as if you have over exercised that part of the body and some bruising may also occur. Depending on the areas treated you may return to work the next day, although some patients wait two to three days to rest before returning to work. It is important to begin normal activity as soon as possible. The compression garment should be worn for three to six weeks to reduce the swelling. You will see a noticeable difference in the shape of your body almost immediately after surgery; however, the full effect may not be fully evident for six to twelve weeks.

Our patients are very pleased with the results with their liposuction surgery, allowing them to reveal their true body shape and contour. Patients feel they look better not only in clothing, but swimsuits too. Their contouring and sculpting procedure also enhances the results of their hard work at the gym. While not a replacement for diet and exercise, liposuction can make you look and feel your best!

Liposelection by Vaser

UltraSmooth, UltraSelective, UltraSound

Dr. Hazen offers Liposelection by Vaser www.vaser.com
Liposelection® only by Vaser® uses the latest patented technology and advanced surgical techniques to remove fatty tissue from your thighs, hips, abdomen, love handles, knees, back, neck and chin.

Why is it different?

The Liposelection procedure uses ultrasound energy to break up and remove fat deposits from the body. Fatty tissue contains a large percentage of fat cells as well as blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue. Ultrasound energy selectively breaks up and emulsifies fat, while leaving other tissue relatively intact. Liposelection typically results in low to minimal pain and low incidences bruising or prolonged swelling.

Liposelection by Vaser® is both efficient and precise. In fact, ultrasound energy is so precise and specific that the technology has been used to remove brain tumors and cataracts.

How it works

During the Liposelection procedure, small incisions are made in the area to be sculpted. Through these small incisions, a special saline solution is infused to numb the site, shrink blood vessels, and enhance emulsification. Emulsified fat is then readily removed with suction and massage.

Is Liposelection right for me? The results you can expect.

If you are healthy and looking for a fast solution to your excess fat deposits-a solution that patients typically report as involving low pain – you may be a good candidate for Liposelection only by Vaser®. Although there are limits to the amount of fat that can be removed, we can assist you with your decision about potential areas for reshaping, the results you can expect and the recovery procedure.

As a practice known for using the latest technology for the benefit of our patients, we selected Liposelection by Vaser® to help ensure smooth, predictable results. Now you can transform and enhance your figure and achieve the look you've always wanted.
