Photodynamic Therapy with Levulan is a procedure that can significantly improve moderate to severe acne and rosacea. Treatment is a two part process that inactivates the bacteria that causes acne, exfoliates the skin to unclog pores and decreases the activity of sebaceous glands. First a microdermabrasion is done, and Levulan is applied to the skin and left for 60 minutes. The skin is then exposed to a laser to activate the Levulan. The combined interaction of the laser and the Levulan is known as photodynamic Therapy.
