BroadBand Light Therapy in Princeton, New Jersey

BroadBand Light (BBL)™ is a highly effective IPL (intense pulsed light or “photofacial”) therapy treatment that delivers bursts of light energy to improve a wide variety of skin imperfections including age spots, acne, sun damage, dull skin, and more. Dr. Hazen offers BBL therapy at her Princeton, NJ center as a non-surgical solution to address these conditions and help patients achieve radiant, healthy skin.

What is BroadBand Light therapy?

BroadBand Light therapy penetrates deep layers of the skin to eliminate and reduce damage of the skin and signs of aging. BBL is used to address discoloration and freckles to give the skin a clearer, fresher appearance. BroadBand Light therapy is primarily used for the face, but is also used on the neck, chest, back, or hands. Any skin that is often exposed to sunlight can be treated.

How BBL works

The therapy also eliminates pigmented lesions and melanin to brighten the color of the skin. The end result is rejuvenated skin that no longer has freckles or unwanted pigment, making it smoother and younger-looking.

BBL treatment details

You will be given protective eyewear before the treatment begins. Dr. Hazen will apply a cooling gel to offset the heat and keep your skin cool. The BroadBand Light device will emit quick bursts of light energy directly into the skin. Most patients report minimal pain, but a numbing cream can be applied if you are more sensitive. Treatments typically take approximately 20 minutes, but the exact length of treatment time varies from patient to patient. Dr. Hazen performs BBL photofacial treatments at her Princeton, New Jersey office.

How often will I need BBL treatments?

Every patient will be different, and during your consultation with Dr. Hazen, she will be able to tell you how many treatments you’ll need. In general, for optimal results we recommend 3 to 5 treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. After that, we suggest touch-up treatments 2 to 3 times a year.

Can I have BBL therapy if my skin has been tanned?

No. You shouldn’t have a tan when undergoing BBL therapy (this includes tanning sprays and lotions), nor should you have been exposed to the sun for a long period of time in the last month.
